A small electronic DirectRoute Tag is placed on the inside of your windscreen. As you approach the toll booth, sensors in the lane will detect your tag, deduct the appropriate toll from your pre-paid account, the traffic light will turn green and the barrier will lift. It is as simple as that! In the Express Lane, you will be able to negotiate the lane at a speed of up to 50kph, leaving a distance of at least 30m from the vehicle in front, without stopping.
Where a trailer is towed by another vehicle, it is treated as one combined vehicle and the class of traffic to which such combined vehicle belongs is determined by the weight and by the number of axles of the vehicle and trailer. In the case of a trailer towed by a Motor Cycle, a Motor Car, a Bus or a Coach the appropriate toll is determined for such vehicle only, disregarding the trailer.
Cash is accepted in manual lanes by a toll collector (change given). Some lanes are equipped with automatic coin machines.
You should install your DirectRoute tag inside your vehicle, just behind the rear-view mirror.  For more information see our Installation Windscreen Guide.
The current Toll Rates are available here
It is an Offence not to pay tolls on the Toll Roads and the vehicle will not be allowed to proceed. In such case a picture of the vehicle is taken and the driver is subject to prosecution. Please contact our Service Centre on 061 582800 (Limerick) or 021 4889968 (Fermoy) for further information.
